Meet Our Guests
Musical Narration by Khalilah Ali
Music is as much a part of our healing. In addition to the ancestral and sound healing performances at the retreat, Khalilah will provide personality to the retreat through music. Every song, every spoken word you absorb will enhance your experience! She'll be kicking off the weekend DJing and blessing us with her musical wisdom at the Twerk Party and Pajama Jam opening night!
Khalilah Ali has been a working emcee and spoken word artist for over two decades.
Khalilah's EP includes the "World Just,"; a homage to the grim realities of growing up in the former steel town of Youngstown, Ohio. In her lyrics, she chronicles the loss of the cities economic vitality and the subsequent fall of the once-thriving Mid-American city she was raised in.
In her next EP, “Ancient Immortals,” Khalilah complexly weaves a narrative of crime, hustling, sex, and young motherhood. In the follow-up cut "Hustling," Khalilah shares a conversation with her father in which she explains why her generation is so engulfed in the hustler’s mentality: “How to look forward when the hopelessness supersedes all the hope for this?” The EP also includes "Prisoners Wife," featuring Def Jam poet Amir. “Prisoner’s Wife tells her semi-autobiographical tale of surviving a spouse’s incarceration and persevering through single motherhood.
Though Khalilah gives an exceedingly reality-based portrait of life for the working and impoverished classes, the poet-MCs effort is also redemptive in its tone. In "Accolades," Khalilah presents a spirit of rebellion and an unrelenting ability to continue despite one’s condition.
Unapologetically describing herself as a contemporary Sapphire, recasting and reframing the stereotype from a neck rolling emasculating spitfire to a complex, contradictory autonomous being, Khalilah shares the power of the woman and her ability to be self-determining and even all-powerful. Challenging the misogynoir in hip-hop that even other women rappers seem to embrace.
Khalilah believes when women harness the power locked inside, they too can determine the course of history.

James "Jae" Williams
James Williams is a husband, father, brother, and friend. He is the Vice president of Aboriginal Concepts and the Co-Founder of The Kayla Bear Foundation along with his wife Thaholisticdiva. James works with youths and is passionate about working with them so that can learn valuable character skills such as integrity, discipline, self-assurance, and the importance of navigating through society as a melanated man.
Many of the workshops are co-ed. But sometimes the men need to talk with the men! James considers it a personal mission to reunite the melanated family. Because the retreat and revival is about families, James will be working with the men and boys on these valuable character traits and sharing tips on the art of husbandry.

GOD does not call the qualified. GOD qualifies the called. She is called to help young women and girls between the ages of 12- 21 who are ready to take the journey into personal power so that they can elevate beyond self-imposed and programmed fears. She teaches young ladies that it is never too early to tap into divine understanding and begin the journey to self-actualization.
She believes that every soul is an ancient being, and the earlier you have access to that information, the more fulfilling your life can be! Those who connect with her will learn the necessary steps to their personal liberation.
